Boris Johnson elected new UK Prime Minister

As per the BBC News, Boris Johnson has been elected the new Prime Minister of the UK and will now additionally be the leader of the Conservatives.

Boris Johnson will now be the new UK Prime Minister after he beat his rival Jeremy Hunt, 92,153 votes to 46,656 votes.

Boris Johnson had the following to say in his speech after being announced the winner:

“We are going to get Brexit done on 31 October and take advantage of all the opportunities it will bring with a new spirit of can do”.

“We are once again going to believe in ourselves, and like some slumbering giant we are going to rise and ping off the guy ropes of self-doubt and negativity.”

Boris Johnson will officially be sworn in as Prime Minister on Wednesday after his visit to Queen Elizabeth II for her formal approval.
