15 years ago today the Republic of Cyprus entered the European Union (EU).

It has been 15 years since the full entry of Cyprus into the European Union.

The Republic of Cyprus along with Malta, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovenia and Slovakia entered unified Europe on 1st of May 2004.

In an announcement made by the president of parliament, Dimitris Sillouris, he stated that, he would be attending Poland’s anniversary celebration of entering the EU as a representative of President Nikos Ansastasiades.

It was also specified that the invitation was made by the Polish Premiership, with the Premiership also inviting all states and governments that joined the EU on 1st of May 2004.

The news which was in the Cypriot News Agency(CNA) explained the goal of the meeting as: the sharing of experiences of the countries as EU members and a discussion on the future of Europe.
